The Serious Organised Crime Agency, or Soca, has admitted coming under a distributed denial-of-service attack on Monday, an attack claimed by the combined forces of LulzSec and Anonymous.
The two hacker groups have united under the auspices of the AntiSec, or Anti-Security, operation. AntiSec is aimed at attacking government and agency systems, to take down websites and plunder data. The Soca attack was the first to take place in the AntiSec operation.
A Soca spokesperson confirmed on Tuesday that the agency's website had been "reactivated" on Tuesday morning, after Soca "chose to take its website offline temporarily last night to limit the impact of the distributed denial-of-service (DDOS) attack on other clients hosted by our service provider".
"The Soca website only contains publicly available information and does not provide access to Soca's operational material or data," Soca said.
